About Zagreb

Welcome to Zagreb, the capital city of the Republic of Croatia. Zagreb is an old Central European city. For centuries it has been a focal point of culture and science, and now of commerce and industry as well. It lies on the intersection of important routes between the Adriatic coast and Central Europe.

Its favorable geographic position in the southwestern part of the Pannonian Basin, which extends to the Alpine, Dinaric, Adriatic and Pannonic regions, provides an excellent connection for traffic between Central Europe and the Adriatic Sea.

It is an important tourist center, not only in terms of passengers traveling from Western and Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea, but also as a travel destination itself. The city has great tourist potential as many tourists that visit Croatia pass through Zagreb in order to visit the beaches along the Croatian Adriatic coast and old historic Renaissance cities such as Dubrovnik, Split, and Zadar.

Zagreb is also called "A city of museums", as there are more of them per square meter than in any other city in the world. But this doesn't mean that there is nothing else for you to do if you aren't a history buff. One of many pleasures that Zagrebčani (the people of Zagreb) enjoy is sitting in one of the numerous cafés, watching the world go by. In the evening, you can visit one of numerous restaurants, sampling a delicious Croatian dish, and finish the day in one of the bars or clubs. Whatever you choose to do, you are guaranteed to have a great time!
